...before I go to bed. Found this icon recently, and had to steal it. It's too funny, and way cool. tommytoony might actually enjoy it, too.

All I have to say is that it's a DAMNED good thing I decided to rework the bumper mounts now, instead of later.

I've purchased all the materials I'm going to need to build the new mounts, and have started on the construction of it. It's going to be a lot of welding, cutting, and fitting, but it's going to work out nicely.

I'm going to try to sleep, again, now.

Well, at least for right now, the blower motor in the sleeper is working again. I opened up the casing, went to grab the motor to trace the wires, and it started spinning. Maybe a loose connection, as Ceilidh suggested? Perhaps. For the time being, there is A/C in the sleeper again. It has awakened.

Apparently I'm not as smart as I thought I was.... Heh.

No, I never NEED to sleep.. I just like to.

I don't get it.

I'm at the Best Western in Cedar Rapids, IA... Only room I could find. A bit expensive, but I need to shut down for my 34 hour break, and I didn't want to idle the truck.

A couple of things happened since I last did a "real" update.

First, the blower motor for the AC in the sleeper went kaput. At least I think that's what it is. The sleeper's fuses aren't blown, so it's either in the switch, the harness, or the motor itself. I'll dig into it tomorrow when I have the time to do so.

Second, the power steering fluid leak is NOT fixed. I think it's the fitting on the bottom for the return line, but I'm not sure 100%. Only way to find out for sure is to replace the damned thing. At least it's something I can do myself.

The bumper mount is cracked, too, so I have to build a new one. Hopefully the thing stays on the truck until I can get home to do it. Luckily I'm a fair welder. I should be able to rebuild it stronger, better, faster.

For now, it's 2 AM local time, and I'm exhausted. Going to watch some X-Files on TNT and get some sleep. I'll shower in the morning.

Now I get to call WideOpenWest and express my displeasure at their service. They came TWO HOURS EARLY, and won't come back today. Lovely.

Well, I'm looking at APU units for the truck, to be installed after I get some bills paid down (even though installing it now will save me alot of money in diesel fuel, I don't have the money to pay for one...)...

The two that are sticking out are by ThermoKing and Carrier, though there are others that have pros/cons as well... These two companies are worldwide, so I know I'll be able to get service if/when I need it.

The ThermoKing unit is a little heavier, doesn't take up as much sidebox space, and is more expensive.

The Carrier unit is about a hundred pounds ligher, is less expensive, but I'll lose most of the space in one of my sideboxes for the AC compressor unit.

Both take up about the same amount of space on the siderail, and I have room on the passenger side siderail for both. They'll also be easy to re-integrate into the electrical system after I move the battery boxes to the back between the frame rails and rearrange a few other things.

The difference in price is around $500.
The difference in weight is close to 100 lbs.

It'll take about a week to install either of them.
